I took my pre-challenge cholesterol test at home today. I used this one (onsale at Walgreens stores right now for 24 dollars) which gave me the following results:
Total Chol: 187
HDL: 66
The TC number is consistent with my last test at a doctor's office back in May of this year. The HDL number is quite a bit lower (it was 86 back then) but consistent with May of 2007 (69) so my HDL it would seem likes to move around a lot (it was 84 in May 2006) . My ratio is still really good at ~2.8, so I got that going for me. Which is nice.
If I use the midpoint of my past Triglycerides readings (100) that would put my LDL at 101 using the calculation listed on this page.
LDL = Total cholesterol – HDL – (Triglycerides ÷ 5)
101 = 187 - 66 - (100/5)
Net Net, my ratios are real good but I'd like my TC and LDL numbers to be a bit lower than they are. Still not too bad for a guy who REALLY enjoys meats and cheeses and butter and other stuff that tastes terrific. But I am excited to work those numbers down!
Stay tuned......

I first heard of Corazonas through research because my dad and 2 younger sisters were diagnosed with High Cholesterol. I was fine. 3 weeks ago I tested 206 TC, not too bad, but still a big change from being normal last year. Today I got an email on the challenge, so I am very exited about this! Can't wait to start! Is there a message board?
Hi! So glad to hear your interested in our Challenge! We don't have a message board per se, just the blog right now - although I'll tell you that a message board is something we'd like to have in the near future. I can't promise when since we stay pretty busy around here (as you might guess) but I'll bet it's sooner than later, for whatever that's worth.
Where are you located? Have you been able to find our chips where you are? Look forward to hearing back from you!
